At Pet N Play we are committed to the health and happiness of your dog both physically and mentally and we want them to be polite, well socialized family members.  

The Pet N Play Training Academy offers training for every level and need. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for dogs and their owners. Our training methods are fun, simple and easy to understand. They are based on positive reinforcement, repetition, consistency and reward. Classes are small to give you and your dog the personal attention you deserve.

We are now offering obedience classes designed for all ages and skill levels as well as personalized individual sessions for dogs in need of some one on one attention. Sign up for classes, private lessons or stay and train packages.

Beginner Obedience Class

Communication is the key to all successful relationships. This class teaches you "how to speak dog", socialization tips, basic commands and life skills that help you develop a happy, healthy, and mutually respectful relationship with dog!

Puppy Pre-School 

You've got a new puppy and what that puppy learns during the time between eight and sixteen weeks of age is going to play a major role in what kind of adult dog you will have. This hands-on course covers all the basics, including socialization, feeding, house training, basic obedience, handling, problem prevention and the keys to communicating with your new best friend!  Puppy manual and demonstration of advanced training programs included. Questions always welcome! 

Flying Disc Class

For dogs just starting to play disc, owners who want their dogs to play disc or experienced flying disc enthusiasts, this class will give you and your dog all the skills you will need to play competitively or just in your own backyard. 2011 Flying Disc World Champion Erich Steffenson will teach you the fundamentals to create or promote drive in your dog. He will demonstrate disc handling and throwing techniques for owners, show you how to encourage air time on the long distance catch and introduce beginner freestyle moves to impress your friends. This is a great sport to learn with your dog that requires no prior obedience training.

Proofing Class (Advanced)

Can your dog sit, down, stay, heel, and come if a tennis ball/toy is flying by?  How about if other dogs or people are strolling by? In this class, we proof the behaviors that our dogs already know through distraction, distance and duration so our environment does not dictate whether our dogs can listen!  This is an advanced class that does require solid basic obedience skills.

Rally Obedience Classes

Looking for a fun activity to do with your dog that also strengthens your dog's obedience skills and your ability to work together as a team?  Then Rally, the newest competitive obedience craze is PERFECT FOR YOU! This class prepares you and your dog as a team to complete a timed and numbered course with 10-15 different obedience exercises!  Several students have so much fun with their dog in this venue that they go on to compete in Rally as a sport in AKC and APDT!  Others continue the classes as a great extracurricular activity!

Flyball Class

Our Beginner Flyball Class introduces you and your dog to the basic skills required to play the game of flyball. We will help teach your dog how to retrieve the ball, fly over the hurdles, catch the ball from the flybox, and then return it to you.  No previous obedience skills required, just a lot of energy and a strong desire to play ball!

Intermediate Flyball Class

Our Intermediate Flyball Class is for students who have previously completed the Beginners Class and want to keep playing the game of flyball!  This class will further develop skills, work to improve course times and teach how to compete as a team.

Loose Leash Walking Class

Would you like to experience harmonious and relaxing walks with your dog in the real world?   Learn how to connect and stay connected with your dog so you can experience the amazing feeling of walking side by side in our 5 week Loose Leash Walking Class! Let the leash be for looks and your relationship be the "glue" that keeps you side by side!

Cross Training Class

This class is for the dog sports enthusiast team looking to build solid foundation skills! Your team will learn agility heeling (left and right side), impulse control, directional cues (did you know that your dog is ALREADY reading your body language to know where you are going?), communicating directions to your dog from a distance......all that AND lots of fun with some agility obstacles! Solid obedience skills required.

    Petite Pooch Class   

Obedience class tailored to the unique challenges dogs under 25lbs and their owners face. Class covers Petite Pup etiquette, and the skills required to have a well mannered, socialized, small dog that really can go anywhere. 

 

 

Trick Class

Are you and your dog tired of the basic obedience monotony? This class is all about sharing some fun, quality time with your pet! Learn tricks to amaze your friends while learning the power of the clicker! 

Personal Obedience

Group obedience classes are great but sometimes you can't fit them into your schedule, or perhaps your dog is not a good candidate for group class. One hour individualized lessons focus is on you, your dog, and the skills and behaviors YOU want your dog to learn; from chewing, digging and barking to relationship building, heeling or agility work.
